After a decade of independent consulting, I’m thrilled to announce my transition to a full-time role at Access Alliance Multicultural Health & Community Services. Starting October 1st, I’ll be stepping into the position of Knowledge Mobilization and Social Action Coordinator, ready to amplify the impact of Access Alliance’s vital work in both the Health and Newcomer-serving sectors.
In the spirit of the simple approach to Knowledge Mobilization (answering What? So What? and Now What?) here’s what’s next for me.
What?
This move isn’t just a career shift. It’s a return to my roots and a chance to deepen my commitment to Knowledge Mobilization (KM). For years, KM has been the driving force behind my work, often funded by my consulting projects. Now, I have the opportunity to fully immerse myself in this crucial aspect of the sector.
So What?
Full-Time Focus: I’m stepping away from consulting to dedicate myself entirely to this new role. I won’t be taking on any new work or clients. It will be a clean break. I’m happy to refer you to great consultants I’ve gotten to know over the years.
Continued Sharing: Digital transformation continues to be an interest and passion. While my focus will shift, I’ll continue posting to my KM4S.ca website. But expect what I share in my networks to change. In particular, on LinkedIn, my main professional network. Sure you’ll still see digital transformation posts and thoughts. Digital transformation is part of the work Access Alliance is doing and researching as an organization. The intersections continue when you add digital to the mix. You can learn more about that in my latest podcast episode. I will continue to work in the open and share as I always have.
New Perspectives: Expect to see more sharing related to Access Alliance’s core work and research priorities. I’ll be immersed in the amazing and important work Access Alliance does. I will help them build out their impact and showcase what KM can do in our sector.
Collaborative Learning: I’m excited to forge new connections in the KM community and contribute to broader networks in this field. I expect to forge new connections with KM folks, communities, and organizations. I’m excited to become a deeper part of those networks. I’m excited to learn from and contribute to them in my new role and focus. To bring all of that into my work at Access Alliance. To share what we’re learning.
Now What?
The past 10 years working as a Newcomer-serving sector consultant has been an amazing experience. This transition marks the next step in my meandering professional journey. I’m grateful for the experiences and relationships built over the past decade of consulting. I look forward to applying these insights in my new role. As I navigate this change, I invite you to join me in exploring the intersections of Health, Settlement, and Knowledge Mobilization.
And, if you’re wondering if I thought about going back into an office after working remotely for 10 years, I deeply pondered the question “Will I be able to regularly interact with humans in person?” before I applied. 🙂
